Ibrahim Shujau, Male' City Council Member for the Hulhumale' Constituency has revealed that the Adhan call and prayer in Hulhumale' mosques can now be heard loud and clear for the benefit of those in the neighbourhood.
In a Tweet on his personal account today, Shujau confirmed that the technical issues with the sound system in Masjidul Umar bin Hattab have been resolved, and that, once again, the Adhan call and prayer can be heard both in the mosque compound and on the PA system to the neighbourhood.
The Council Member for Hulhumale' noted that issues related to the city's mosques are a top priority of Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Mosques in Villimale' and Hulhumale' are maintained by the Male' City Council, in accordance with the Decentralisation Act, but King Salman Mosque, the Islamic Centre and a selected few biggest mosques in the city are overseen by the Islamic MInistry.
All mosques are now fitted with round-the-clock CCTV cameras for security surveillence for the safety of prayergoers. This and other initiatives, including the daily cleaning and maintenance of mosques, are initatives of the current City Council led by Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
