Malé, Maldives – United States Ambassador to the Maldives, H.E. Hugo Yon, paid a courtesy call on Mayor of Malé City, Adam Azim, on 21st May 20225. The meeting, held at Malé City Council, focused on exploring avenues of cooperation between the United States and Malé City in key areas such as development, education, and community engagement.
During the discussion, Mayor Azim shared his recent efforts to address urban challenges and improve the quality of life for Malé residents. He emphasized his commitment to continue driving initiatives aimed at the city’s progress. The Mayor also highlighted the longstanding friendship between the United States and the Maldives, expressing hope for even stronger bilateral ties that would foster prosperity and unity in the years ahead.
Ambassador Yon reaffirmed the United States' commitment to deepening its relationship with Malé City Council. He pledged continued support for the Council’s initiatives and expressed readiness to collaborate on a range of community-focused projects.
Also present at the meeting was Deputy Mayor Mohammed Areesh, who joined in the discussions on enhancing civic engagement and development cooperation.
