The Mayor of Male' City, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said that he and his team at the Male' City Council were united in their commitment to serve the people of Male' City with sincerity and diligence.
The Mayor's remarks came at this morning's special press conference. In responding to a media query about how the Male' City Council hoped to fulfill their responsibilities in the face of petty political resistence by the government, Dr. Muizzu said that the Members of the Male' City Council had always found ways to overcome hurdles in their path, and that they would not loose heart in delivering on their pledges to the people.
"There are major obstacles, but we will forge ahead with confidence", the Mayor asserted.
Dr. Muizzu noted that the Male' City Council was thankful to the media for their willingness to convey their concerns to the people at all times, and noted that they would continue to keep the people informed of developments at all times.
"We have a strong team here. MDP Councillors. PPM Councillors. We are all united in our efforts to serve the residents of the city. We are one team. We work as one entity. We will meet authorities, knock on different doors, explore a variety of avenues, to do our job. So far, there has been no response, but we will keep trying nonetheless."
The Mayor of Male' emphasised that the City Council would remain a beacon of hope for the people, and would always stand up for the constitutional right and responsibility of local and decentralised governance in the Maldives. He added that his team would remain steadfast in their service to the residents of the capital city.
