The Male' City Council has decided to establish a cat shelter and veterinary clinic in Male' City, as a solution to the growing stray cat population in the City.
Deliberations during the 65th sitting of the Male' City Council included extensive discussions on the way forward to address the complaints over stray cats in the city, and the alarming rate of increase reported by members of the public.
At the meeting, all but one of the 13 members present had voted in favour of establishing the veterinary clinic in Villimale'.
"It would be impractical to establish it in Male' with its much larger population", the Mayor noted.
The Mayor assigned the Villimale' Service Committee, the Environment Committee and the Regulations Committee to undertake the implementation and oversight of the proposed development of the sites.
