The Mayor of Male' City, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has clarified that, in accordance with the Decentralisation Act, the Ministry of Education has had to devolve the management of three schools in the capital, and that they were the three ward schools - Maafannu Madharusaa, Galolhu Madharusaa and Ahmadhiyaa School.
Dr. Muizzu also eluded to the reasoning behind the MCC not managing Galolhu School. He said that, at the start of the current term, management of the school had been handed over to the central government for a 30-year period, on the request of the President's Office.
At the start of this week's sitting of the Male' City Council, the Mayor spoke on the status of the ward schools in the city, as numerous parents had recently taken to social media inquiring about the reasons behind Galolhu School being excluded from the list of ward schools currently under MCC management.
