MCC to start Villimale' buggy service in February

The Male' City Council has announced that the first batch of 10 buggies to be used for the Villimale' buggy service are scheduled to arrive in the Maldives by the end of the month, and the new electric buggy service will commence in February. The introduction of electric buggies in Villimale' was a decision taken by the City Council at its 63rd weekly sitting back on the 17th of August 2022.

Of the 10 buggies, two are designed to carry luggage, while one is custom-fitted for use in emergencies to carry patients as an ambulance. Three buggies will carry four passengers each, while three are six-seaters. The final buggy is larger and can accommodate 12 passengers. The Male' City Council revealed that the buggies are designed for the terrain of Villimale' and have long battery lives.

Elaborating on the development, the Mayor of Male' City, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said that the new service is a response to the feedback of Villimale' residents and an important milestone on the City Council's five-year Strategic Action Plan. He expressed his firm confidence that the new service would be greatly beneficial to the residents of Villimale'.
