The Male' City Council has decided to close down "Cafe Thaaseeru" on Boduthakurufaanu Magu, for violating the lease agreement.
Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said that the decision was prompted by violations of the agreement, but that it was also necessitated by the potential risk of a major fire incident. He elaborated that the cafe kitchen stored large numbers of gas cylinders, and that it was disaster waiting to happen. He added that in addition to a recent such incident there, they had also seen gas cylinder explosions there during the recent massive fair in the auction centre, which was in the next block.
