The Mayor of Male' City, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu today urged law enforcement authorities to refrain from issuing parking violation stickers for prayer-goers during Ramadan.
Responding to concerns by members of the public over the issuance of parking fines for vehicles parked for a few minutes in undesignated areas while drivers and riders perform their salaath, the Mayor called on the Police to take a more relaxed attitude to such issues throughout the holy month.
Elaborating on this request, the Mayor reasoned that Male' being so congested and the difficulty in finding temporary parking spaces, including in close proximity to the city's mosque, makes it nearly impossible for taxi drivers and bikers alike to find a designated parking space as they hurry to attend the calls of prayer.
