The historic Taqwa Mosque, which has stood for over 700 years, is set to undergo significant renovations following a visit by Mayor Adam Azim. During his inspection, the Mayor outlined a series of maintenance work of the mosque while preserving its heritage.
Mayor Azim stated that the prayer area of the mosque will be air-conditioned to enhance the comfort of worshippers, while the courtyard will be repainted to reflect spiritual appeal. Additionally, the sheltered area of the ablution facility will be expanded, and a new toilet will be constructed to improve accessibility and convenience for the prayers.
The air conditioning units for the mosque were generously donated by Hanimaadhoo MP Abdul Ghafoor Moosa. The Mayor expressed his gratitude for the MP's support, highlighting the importance of community contributions in preserving and enhancing Islamic spirit.
Mayor Azim confirmed that the renovation work will be completed in time for Ramadan, ensuring that worshippers can enjoy the upgraded facilities during the holy month. These improvements aim to honour the mosque’s historical significance while making it more functional for the present-day community
