City Council Approves Construction of New Public Toilet in Vilimalé

Malé City Council has approved the construction of a new public toilet on the west side of Vilimalé. The decision was made during the 199th meeting of the Council's fourth session, held on Wednesday.

Mayor Adam Azim, speaking at the session, announced that development plans for the new public toilet will be formally launched next week. "It is essential for residents of Malé and Vilimalé to have access to public sanitation facilities," Mayor emphasized.

The new facility will be designed to serve a broad range of users, including children, the elderly, and individuals with special needs. Councilor Nahula Ali also highlighted the importance of the project, stating that the design must include separate restrooms for men and women, a changing area, and a designated prayer room.

Currently, Vilimalé’s only public toilet is located on the eastern side of the island. The new facility on the west side is expected to significantly improve accessibility and hygiene for both locals and visitors.
