Finance Ministry failure to release budget leading to Sinamale' turf group project delay: Council Member Reehan

Member of the Male' City Council for the Galolhu Central Constituency, Ms Mariyam Reehan Nazim has confirmed that the project to construct a turf ground in Sinamale' is facing delays as a result of the failure of the Ministry of Finance and Treasury to release the allocated budget to the City Council.

Council Member Reehan said that the City Council had repeatedly impressed upon the Ministry that the turf ground is an important and eagerly-awaited infrastructure for the youth of her constituency. She assured that work would commence as soon as the budget is released.

Reehan noted that Co-Line had already been assigned the contract to complete the ground in time for Ramadan, but that the work had ground to a halt owing to budgetary constraints.

The Male' City Council has stated that they attach the highest priority to the development of infrastructure that is utilised by residents for social activities, and urged the Government to stop politicising and sabotaging such important programmes and projects that benefit the people.
