Male' City Mayor Adam Azim and councilors visited the Ministry of Housing to meet with Housing Minister Dr. Abdulla Muththalib. However, the meeting could not take place today due to the Minister's schedule.
The Mayor and councilors sought the meeting to discuss a petition submitted by the public regarding a housing project being carried out in the Funavaa area of Vilimalé.
Mayor Azim stated that the project in Vilimalé Funavaa is not conducted by the City Council. This project is under the direct management of the Ministry of Housing.
Mayor Azim further noted that he wished to share concerns with the Minister regarding the damage being caused to Funavau due to the project's poor implementation in that area. "There are many matters that need to be discussed with the Minister. However, the response received today was that a meeting is not possible as the Minister is busy," Azim said
The Housing Ministry said it will arrange a meeting sometime next week. Mayor Azim said he will visit again next week to meet the Minister.
Mayor Azim stated that he would not cease efforts to find solutions for the public's concerns regarding the environmental issues facing Vilimalé. "I hope to meet the Minister next week. We will keep coming here until a meeting is possible," Mayor Azim said.
