The Male’ City Council has made the decision that citizens that have been helped by homeownership projects are to be removed from Dhaftharu.

On the 10th official assembly of the 4th term of City Council, this decision was reached by a majority of 16 members. This decision meant that due effort will be put into the removal of such individuals. Therefore, it has been planned that those who have received homes courtesy of the homeownership projects will be identified and thereby removed from Dhaftharu in the near future.

Another important conclusion reached was to improve efforts to provide accommodation to specifically a woman’s children who have been cut off from inheritance. This situation can arise from the woman passing away whilst her parents are still alive. Therefore, it was passed by the council’s decision to identify these individuals from amongst the Male’ City citizens as a means to facilitate the homeownership process.
